Every window cleaner I’ve talked to while building Zifty says the same thing. The windows are the easy bit. It’s the evenings that drag: texting tomorrow’s customers, writing up invoices and working out who still owes what. Zif is our answer to that.
Why we built an assistant, not another app
Most round software gives you plenty of screens. The trouble is you still have to remember to open them, at the end of a long day, and do the same jobs by hand every week.
We wanted something that does the routine jobs on its own and only taps you on the shoulder when it needs you. So Zifty has two halves. The app is where your round lives: customers, prices, the planner and invoices. Zif is the bit that works it, every day, so you don’t have to.
What Zif does in a normal day
First thing: the morning round-up
Open the app and Zif tells you how many jobs you’ve got, what they’re worth, where the first stop is and anything that needs you before you set off.
On the round: the quickest order
Tap Optimise drive, pick where you start and finish, and Zif puts the day’s jobs in the quickest order with the drive time. Start from home, from where you are, or with the furthest job first. There’s more on how that works in round planning.
Job done: the invoice goes
Tick a job off and its invoice is raised there and then. If the customer pays by Direct Debit, that clean is collected through your GoCardless account. If they pay another way, the invoice goes by text or email, and Zif follows up anything unpaid on the days you choose.
Evening: tomorrow sorted
The night before a clean, reminder texts go to the customers you’ve switched them on for. Fewer locked gates, fewer wasted trips, and nothing for you to type.
Heads-ups, not notifications
The quickest way to make an assistant annoying is to have it tell you everything. Zif keeps quiet unless something needs you, and that’s usually one of three things:
- Weather on a booked day, so you can move the work before it catches you out.
- A payment that failed, with a retry or a new Direct Debit link one tap away.
- A new sign-up waiting, ready to drop into the round that’s already nearby.
Everything else he just gets on with. It’s all in the app if you want to check his working.
Is Zif AI?
We get asked this a lot. The honest answer is no, not in the chatbot sense. Zif doesn’t guess. He follows the rounds, prices and rules you’ve set, the same way every day. If he sends a reminder, it’s because you asked him to remind that customer.
That’s on purpose. When it’s your money and your customers, you want to know exactly what’s going to happen, not hope a computer has understood you.
The best admin is the admin you never have to think about.
